It's hard to believe but January is coming to an end and tomorrow is February!
That means it's time for our annual Valentine's Day canvas display - we always have a lot of fun featuring seasonal needlepoint canvases.
Melissa Shirley is a favorite designer and her hearts are lovely.
Needledeeva is another popular designer and clearly she does excellent hearts!
Shop early - these pieces are featured on the front canvas board in the shop and that display will change as canvases are sold.
A new yarn from Noro!
Karuta is a silk/wool/cotton blend and is a fairly bulky yarn - should knit up at 3 to 3.5 stitches to the inch. The colors are really stunning and a bit of a departure for Noro. The colors are more variations on the same tone rather than abrupt color changes. You can really have some fun with this one!
There's a session of Intro to Two Color Knitting coming up and seats are still available - learn just how easy and entertaining it is to knit with two colors of yarn at the same time and make those beautiful designs. Starts Tuesday, February 7.
There's a lot of new books out that feature two-color knitting - it's a great time to learn this technique. Sure looks intimidating doesn't it? Learn a few tricks and you'll be whipping out impressive colorful projects as fast as you can!
It really is fun to do and then you can start browsing through those Norwegian sweater books.
Another session of Beginning Socks is coming up and there are still several openings. Why knit socks you ask?
Two words. Sock yarn.
All that gorgeous fabulously colored yarn - and you can knit it up into wonderfully warm socks.
Today's sock yarn doesn't itch (at least for most of us ) and it goes in the laundry with your jeans (probably should dry on the radiator though). Socks are so fun to make once you learn about all the various parts and techniques - they're not hard, but they might look puzzling at first. And a sock class is a fun way to work through the puzzle.

Debbie Bliss is thinking Spring already!
We have the new Debbie Bliss magazine and it is a winner - beautiful colorwork projects, some intriguing lace and of course lovely wearable sweaters.

Versa is a very fun machine-wash cotton blend that has loads of color - two ribbons are meshed together for extra color variation!
Circus is a machine washable wool blend with lots of color and texture. You are sure to be entertained knitting with this one. I want to start knitting with it right away!
The UPS guy brought us a glimpse of spring yesterday - the new warm weather yarns and patterns from Berroco! It may be a bit early, but hey - you need time to knit up a summer sweater in order to wear it this year!
It's a nice collection - six new booklets, including another from Berroco's lead designer Norah Gaughan and one featuring children's patterns. Lots to look at!
Let's look at a couple of the new yarns. First up is Captiva - it's a cotton blend with a satiny feel. Machine washable, this yarn will add elegance to any project!
Another new yarn that looks really exciting is Lago. This yarn is a viscose and linen blend with some shimmer and a subtle thin and thick texture. The drape on this one is incredible and will make up into beautiful sweaters.
